Examination Pattern


  1. In every semester, there shall be three Sessional Assessment (Internal Assessments) for 20 % Marks and 80 % Marks for the End-Semester examination in each paper. It is compulsory for every student to secure a minimum of 40% marks in two Internal Assessments individually to be eligible to fill up the forms for End-Semester Examination.
  2. It is mandatory to appear and to pass in Sessional Tests for Semester system and House Test for Annual system besides attending minimum 75% classes to be eligible to fill up the university Examination forms (Semester/Annual).
  3. To pass in the End-Semester  Examinations,  a student has to secure at least 35% marks in each paper and 40% marks in aggregate.
  4. A student shall be declared passed in the entire semester  provided  she/he has passed individually in all FOUR papers of End-Semester exams and the Sessional Tests / Practical Tests ( wherever applicable) securing 40% marks in aggregate.
  5. A student shall be promoted to next semester provided she/he passes in at least TWO Theory papers and ALL Practical papers securing at least 40% marks in aggregate.
  6. Those who fail in more than TWO papers shall not be allowed  to move to next Semester.
  7. Such students, who are promoted to higher Semester, shall have to clear their back papers by appearing in the relevant end-semester examinations to be conducted in the subsequent year. She/he has to fill-up Examination forms for the back papers also, when conducted for the relevant Semester, along with the current semester. (For odd Semesters in November & for Even Semesters in April )N.B.: A candidate shall be allowed a maximum of three consecutive chances to clear the backlog.
  8. A student must pass all her/his Six semester courses within six years from the year of Registration.
  9. The result of the Sixth Semester shall be kept withheld till the back papers are cleared by the student (Within Six- year tenure of Registration)
  10. Since the Semester system involves continuous system of evaluation, there shall be no Private or late college categories.
  11. Improvement Examination- A student after completing the Sixth semester shall be allowed to take improvement examination ONCE only within one year in not more than four theory papers out of all six semesters.
  12. No improvement shall be allowed in the practical examinations/ internal assessments.
  13. Under semester system Re-evaluation of the answer scripts is not allowed. However, a candidate may apply for Re-Scrutiny.
  14. A candidate, who passes all four papers in a Semester or is promoted by passing in at least two papers (with back paper) to next higher semester, shall have to take formal admission  for  the  next  Semester  by  furnishing  the  Mark  sheet  of  the  preceding semester and depositing relevant fees within the notified Schedule/Timeline.
  15. Admit Cards will be issued to the students in the preceding week of the University Exams (Semester/Annual).

N.B.: Students should not bring any books/study materials/notes/electronic devices such as mobiles/tablets/scientific calculators during any tests/examinations.
