The District Level of Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament-2026 was successfully conducted at Dera Natung Government College (DNGCI) under the aegis of MyBharat Itanagar in collaboration with the host institution. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across the district.
The theme for this year’s District Level competition was “50 Years of Emergency: Lessons for Indian Democracy.” Each participant was given a time limit of three minutes to present their views. The topic aimed to encourage young minds to reflect upon the historical significance of the Emergency (1975–1977) in India and to critically analyse its impact on democratic institutions, constitutional values, civil liberties, and the role of citizens in safeguarding democracy. The theme was chosen to mark fifty years of the Emergency and to promote awareness among youth about the importance of preserving democratic principles.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Principal Dr. M. Q. Khan of DNGCI emphasized the significance of constitutional rights and their preservation. He highlighted the need for unity and urged the youth to step forward as responsible citizens in strengthening democratic values.
Shri Gopesh Pandey, Deputy Director of MyBharat Itanagar, elaborated on the historical background of the Emergency and explained why the topic remains relevant in contemporary times. He stressed that understanding history is essential to ensure that democratic ideals are protected and upheld.
After keen deliberation, the jury panel announced the top ten participants who will represent the district at the State Level. The selected participants, in rank order, are:

The panel of judges comprised Dr. Tumbom Riba, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Hindi, DNGCI; Dr. Jnan Ranjan Padhi, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of English, DNGCI; Dr. Suparna Bhattacharjee, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Political Science, DNGCI; Mr. Mongol Libang, Assistant Professor, Department of History, DNGCI; and Dr. Tarh Achi, Programme Officer of NSS Unit and Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, DNGCI.
The programme concluded with appreciation for the participants and organizers for conducting a meaningful event that fostered awareness, critical thinking, and democratic responsibility among the youth.
