Dera Natung Government College (DNGC), Itanagar, celebrated its 47th Foundation Day & Felicitation cum Induction Programme on 6th September 2025 at the college auditorium. The event included a felicitation ceremony for RGU- top ten rank holders, alumni and achievers including those selected in APPSCCE. The day was full of pride and joy as the college remembered its journey of 47 years as one of the leading centres of higher education in Arunachal Pradesh.
The Chief Guest of the programme the Governor Lt. Gen. Kaiwalya Trivikram Parnaik (Retd.) PVSM, UYSM, YSM. In his speech, he stressed the importance of keeping a healthy body and mind. He reminded the students to carry forward the vision of Late Dera Natung, a pioneer of education in the state. He also appealed to the alumni to give back to their alma mater. His words inspired all present, especially the students, who were strongly motivated to be responsible citizens for the future of the state and the nation.
The Principal of DNGC, Dr. M. Q. Khan, welcomed everyone and thanked them for their presence. He focused on the importance of the Foundation Day celebration, saying that it helps students remember the rich history of the institution and feel motivated to scale new heights. He presented a brief on journey and achievements of Dera Natung Government College emphasising that the alumni and students of the college have made the college to hold its head high. He further highlighted that 54 students of DNGCI emerged top ten rank holders including twelve overall top ten rank holdersof RGU- Exam - 2025 and this is the highest in the state.
The major highlights of the programme was the felicitation of 54 academic achievers ( top ten rank holders of RGU -Exam -2025) of whom, three students received the Principal’s Merit Award for securing the top ten positions in Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) examinations 2025. Miss Tam Sita, Department of Anthropology, topped the BA examinations. Miss Anita Mondal, Department of Zoology, stood first in the B.Sc. examinations. In addition, nine students who were among the Top 10 overall university rank holders and 42 students who were among the Top 10 rankers of their respective departments were also honoured.
On the occasion, the Chief Guest released a book by Dr. Tumbom Riba Jomoh, HoD Hindi, titled “Arunachal Pradesh ke Galo Lok Sahitya mein Stri Jeevan ke Vividh Aayam: Ek Adhayan.”
During the programme the college also honoured its proud alumni, who were felicitated for their commendable services to the state.
The achievements of students in sports were also duly recognised. 19 students who were honoured for bringing medals and recognition at national and international levels in 2024–25 are: Mepung Langdo – Gold in Karate, Lokam Mane, Gayang Lochung, Tai Benge – Bronze in Karate, Licha Sep, Taw Pakba – Gold in Kickboxing, Pipi Yangfo, Sonam Tsering Kasidu – Gold in Weightlifting, Ringu Meki – Gold in Archery, Pomen Teppa, Shirenlu Appa, Eshani Tayang, Adit Tulang, Kabak Saba – Gold in Taekwondo, Jangdi Wangpan, Kipa Yachum, Kipa Ami, Karu Taki, Namnu Langdo all represented state in football at the national level.
