Prof. Y. K. Vijay, former
Director of CIST and a key architect of IAPT Innovation Hubs nationwide, served
as the Chief Guest. He delivered an inspiring, interactive session introducing
the purpose of the Innovation Hub and its nearly 50 copyright-free scientific
models designed to simplify complex concepts through hands-on learning. He
demonstrated models explaining atomic configuration, crystal defects,
photon–atom interactions, Van der Waals potential, total internal reflection,
and the Raman effect. Prof. Vijay also highlighted India’s scientific legacy
and noted that the launch coincides with the Centenary of Quantum Science and
the Diamond Jubilee of IAPT, marking this Hub as the 86th in the country.
Dr. M. Q. Khan, Principal
and Patron, described the Hub as a transformative step toward experiential and
interdisciplinary learning, praising the collaborative effort of faculty across
departments. He urged students to use the space creatively, emphasising that
innovation thrives on curiosity, experimentation, and imagination.
Mr. Anil Kumar, Principal
of Vivekananda Residential Public School, encouraged students to cultivate
reasoning, analytical thinking and a questioning mindset. Citing Article 51A(h)
of the Constitution, he stressed that developing a scientific temper is a
fundamental duty of every citizen.
In her welcome address, Dr.
Bandana Gogoi, HoD (Physics), highlighted IAPT’s academic initiatives,
national-level programmes, and the college’s observance of the International
Year of Quantum Science.
The programme concluded
with a hands-on demonstration and interactive session by Prof. Vijay. Dr.
Nabaratna Bhagawati delivered the Vote of Thanks, and Ms. Kimnu Mossang (B.Sc.
V Semester, Physics) anchored the event.
