Natung Government College (DNGC) hosted a lecture on the life and philosophy of
the 14th Dalai Lama, delivered by Yeshi Dawa, senior researcher at 108 Peace
International. Addressing students and faculty, Dawa highlighted the
significance of peace from both spiritual and geopolitical perspectives,
remarking that “compassion is like water—it is essential for life.”
The
programme was organised by the Department of Political Science, in
collaboration with the 108 Peace Institute and the Internal Quality Assurance
Cell (IQAC), under the 108 Peace Talk Series – Arunachal Pradesh, programme
coordinator Dr Chalak Lowang informed.
Speaking
on the occasion, DNGC Principal Dr M. Q. Khan stressed the importance of global
peace in building a harmonious and prosperous society. He observed that, in the
pursuit of development, humanity is drifting away from moral values and ethics.
Emphasising compassion, non-violence, and brotherhood, he stated, “No
prosperity is possible without peace. We are meant to save lives and spread
kindness.”
Head
of the Department Dr Suparna Bhattacharjee underlined that peace, values, and
commitment are indispensable in today’s world. She highlighted four key themes
of the talk—religious freedom, democracy, climate action, and leadership—drawn
from the Dalai Lama’s life and teachings. She added that “practicing
kindness and warm-heartedness brings happiness not only to others but also to
oneself,” noting the urgent global need for peace and harmony.
Earlier,
programme coordinator Dr Joba Riba encouraged students to take active part in
the discussions.
