IQAC of Dera Natung Government college Itanagar in collaboration with SPIC MACAY and SRF successfully organized a workshop on Odissi -Dance in the college auditorium from 10:00 am onwards.
The event was graced by Er. Talo Potom, the Deputy
Commissioner, ICR . He along with Smti Asha Kumari and Dr M Q Khan the
Principal created a joyous vibe by making all the audiences dance with the
steps of Odissi. In his address he appreciated the college and the SPIC Macay
for organizing the significant event which will make youth understand and learn
the classical dance. He urged that students in schools and colleges should be
encouraged and imparted coaching to learn Odissi -dance.
Smti Asha Kumari, the world-renowned exponent of
Odissi hailing from Odisha elaborated on origin, history and transformation of
various forms of Odissi dance. She explained the meaning and significance of
the dominant themes of devotion, Panchatantra and sensuality before her recital
and performance. Many students interacted with her through their queries and
cleared doubts about Odissi dance forms very enthusiastically.
Shri Sokhep Kri, the chairman, SPIC MACAY, Arunachal
chapter presented a brief account of the history of SPIC MACAY in Arunachal
Pradesh and highlighted the objectives of Dashank and highlighted about the
major activities of SPIC MACAY in the state.
The workshop was successfully coordinated by Dr
Priyanka Dutta, the Assistant Professor and Deputy Coordinator , IQAC ,DNGCI
and was attended by students of DNGC and different schools of Itanagar
including Horn Bill English Medium School and Vivekananda Central school
besides many faculty, members , office bearers of SPIC MACAY and invitees.
